There are many opportunities that arise while attending a dance event, competition or cruise. One of the greatest benefits that you will experience is being surrounded by like minded people. People that share your passion and desire to dance, broaden their horizons and increase their skill level and knowledge.

There are many opportunities that arise while attending a dance event, competition or cruise. One of the greatest benefits that you will experience is being surrounded by like minded people. People that share your passion and desire to dance, broaden their horizons and increase their skill level and knowledge. You are sure to be inspired and challenged, not to mention amazed by the vast levels and abilities of dancers from many different locations.

Most events offer extensive workshops taught by top instructors in their area of expertise. You must remember that each instructor will be offering their own personal philosophy, style and technique and may vary from instructor to instructor. It is important for you to remember that you may not be able to use everything that you learn, but to apply what you like and find useful and not dwell on the rest. Do not argue with or try to correct the instructor.

There will be many classes offered in many different dance styles so it is a good idea to be selective in your choices so as to not overwhelm and frustrate yourself. Your comprehension and ability to retain information will depend upon your current skill level and ability to process and retain extensive information. You should review the itinerary at the beginning of the event and choose the classes that most interest you.You will have a much more successful time if you master a few new techniques or moves that you can bring home with you, than if you just go home with a jumbled mind. It is a good idea to write down what you have learn after each class, and even do a video recap of what you have learned. Ask someone that has taken the class to run through it with you and try to capture it on film or even your cell phone.

Of course there is also everyone's favorite activity........Dancing, All night long!!! It is not uncommon to find yourself crawling to your room at 5 or 6 am. Having the opportunity to dance with all level of dancers is worth the price of the ticket alone. You will be amazed at just how much your dancing skills improve in one short weekend. You will meet many people and continue to "dance" into them at other events.

To help from becoming overwhelmed and frustrated, be sure to take breaks, stay hydrated and nourished and take time out to have fun! Take what you have learned to the dance social dance floor and kick up your heels. It is the repetition of what you have learned that will help you to bring it home
