Hello!
Here's hoping that this finds you all well and Swine
Flu free. It seems as though the concerns surrounding the Swine Flu are
real and that everyone should be taking proper precautions to prevent
exposure.
For those of you with reservations on our dance
cruise, I would like to update you with the latest Carnival news.
Carnival is currently replacing their scheduled Mexican Riviera
itineraries with visits to Astoria, Victoria and Vancouver departing
May 17 through June 14, 2009. Guests that sail on this cruise will
receive a $100 per person on board credit. They will continually update
their dates and itineraries as necessary and I will keep you informed.
As for now it seems as though our cruise will remain unchanged, but I
did want you to be aware of the possibility of going to Canada instead
of Mexico. Either way, I sure we will have a fantastic time!
Cruise
We
still have cabins available. Prices start at only $659.53 per
person, This includes all taxes and fees, plus all the workshops,
dancing and activities. The cruise is for 7 nights aboard the Carnival Splendor,
cruising to the Mexican
Riviera
on Sept. 27, 2009. Join us for a great time!
Hope you are enjoying the spring weather and finding time to dance some
sunshine into your life. Thank you for allowing
us to
be a part
of your
world!

What should I carry in my Dance Shoe bag?
While I am not suggesting that these items are essential for
everyone, they are things that I carry in my shoe bag at all times.
Most important item, dance shoes. The following items come in handy on
a regular basis. A fan, hand sanitizer, breath mints, super glue gel
(for quick sole fixes), band aids (you might become someones hero!),
ibuprofen, breath mints, a wire shoe brush, a hair brush, a
hair
tie, safety pins, a tooth brush and paste, business cards ( you never
know who you might meet!), a pen, your ID, some $$, a camera,
and
don't forget your lip gloss or chap stick. If you carry all of these
items with you, you will be sure to be prepared for anything that may
come up while you are out dancing.

Keeping Healthy While
Dancing
With
the recent outbreak of the Swine Flu, dancers need to be a bit more
diligent in taking the necessary precautions to prevent the swine flu
from running rampant throughout our dance communities. As you all know,
we come in direct contact with more people in one evening of
dancing, than most people come in contact with
during an
entire week. Many dancers travel in dance circles that extend beyond
their local dance venues traveling to out of town dance conventions and
competitions.
During dance conventions and competitions,
there are often hundreds of dancers, dancing with each other, touching
each others hands and dancing in close proximity not only to their
partner, but with many other dance couples as well. As dancers we tend
to burn the candle at both ends, while holding a match to the center,
so our resistance to illness can be compromised, as we are often
overtired, under fed and dehydrated.
Remembering to wash your hands, or using a
hand sanitizer often, and not touching your eyes, nose or
mouth
will tremendously help prevent spreading germs. Also try and
get
enough sleep, eat healthy and stay hydrated. Be sure and seek medical
attention as soon as you start developing symptoms.
We must
also take into account that the pros that we are often taking workshops
from travel extensively, in and out of our country. If we all do our
part, hopefully we will not invite the dreaded flu to join us on any of
our dance floors. Extreme precaution seems to be in order with this
particular strain of flu. No dancing pigs, please!
